In this episode of the Real Estate Growth Hackers Show, Matt Barnett joins Zach Hammer to talk about how to scale your relationships with your customers, how to stand out, and grow your business!

Matt Barnett is the founder of Bonjoro, a video onboarding platform that allows users to better connect with their network by sending personalized welcome and thank you video messages.

What is Bonjoro?

We begin the interview with a little story about how Bonjoro was founded.

Matt recounts, “We built this as a customer success hack for another product. We send email marketing to all our clients when they first sign up for our products.”

He went on to add, “That is the first piece of communication that they will get — an email. And everyone does the same thing!”

Matt and his team already realized that the reason they got on so well with customers is because of their terrific communication — they were really good at sales. One morning, they wondered if they could start sending a video to people who signed up with them.

Matt described exciting results of their little experiment, “When we did this, we tripled our response rates and conversions! Customers started asking us if they could use the same video onboarding feature.”

So, they built a little app that plugs into customers’ CRM so that when a new inquiry comes in, a notification pops up on their phone and they can record a short, personalized welcome video for that individual.

This is something that only few people do in their email and the impact this makes to customers is outstanding!

How Impactful are Video Onboarding Platforms for Real Estate Professionals?

One of the things that real estate agents constantly struggle with is with their engagements with their leads.

For example, when a real estate agent is generating leads on a platform like ZIllow. What most people do not realize is that those leads often get like four or five emails at the same time.

Those leads are people who reach out expecting to get some help and they are often getting hounded by automated messages from people who want the same thing. The approach is done by most real estate agents but it is obviously not being very personal with their mode of communication.

The powerful thing about Bonjoro is with video emails during the onboarding. Now, real estate agents can be notified when a lead comes in and they can record a quick video response that is personalized, especially for the individual who reached out.

The personal connection is just super powerful, making it a real relationship rather than just another attempt that goes nowhere.

It all comes down to being genuine.

Matt shared what was probably the most startling feedback they had, “Oh, I don’t have time to do this.”

Of course, Matt was astounded, “Are you kidding me? What has the world come to that we no longer have 30 seconds to speak to another person?”

Luckily, everyone in the world thinks the same way — most people think they do not have the time! People only want to scale, but the reality is that no one can scale relationships.
